Animage June 2012
Highlight: Inazuma’s 2012 Grand Prix TakeoverKobayashi Yuu (Kirino Ranmaru), Tai Yuuki (Kariya Masaki) interview, Nishigaki Yuka (Kazemaru Ichirouta) interview, Terasaki Yuka (Matsukaze Tenma), Oohara Takashi (Tsurugi Kyousuke), Maeno Tomoaki (Tsurugi Yuuichi) interview w/ summaries

As of July 15, 2012, I will no longer be providing scans of poster images publicly. It has come to my attention that disrespectful people on facebook, tumblr and the like are posting my images with the watermark literally cut off. These people apparently don’t understand the difference between media creations and outright stealing. Lamers.

Poster (those without access will not see the image):

Articles:

*most of the Grand Prix scans are only 96 dpi since they’re just for reference…

✿ Since he’s always been a mecha fan, Tai Yuuki draws a profile image of the “mecha-like” Lancelot without any references. He notes that he’s no match the master (Kobayashi Yuu-san)’s art (lol).
✿ Kobayashi Yuu draws “mischevious Kariya-san” with “chastising Ranmaru-san”, a complementary image to the Shindou-san and Ranmaru-san illustration she drew in Princess Animage Spring 2012.
✿ Tai’s photo: Tai imagines Kariya’s Avatar would share the color theme of his hair, so a blue one like Sea King Poseidon. Thus, his photo is with seashells and the like.
✿ Kobayashi’s photo: Kobayashi imagines Kirino’s Avatar to be very bright with lots of flowers, like a pink angel. Thus, her photo is with lots of flower petals.
✿ For the final episode of the original Inazuma Eleven series, the ~30 voice actors of the episode all gathered up to say the final “That’s all!” after the episode proverb. It was the sound director’s (Mima Masafumi) idea.
✿ “Mata ne no Kisetsu” was Nishigaki’s first character song, so she had extra rehearsal days while the other 4 members didn’t need them since they were already accustomed to doing character songs.
✿ Nishigaki’s photo: In previous photos, she was always conscious of Kazemaru’s style, but this time she went for “Nishigaki style”. Spring fairy.
✿ Oohara notes that in the different Chrono Stone timelines from the first 4 eps, Tsurugi strayed off the path of being a normal, happy kid either way… XD
✿ For the Tsurugi brothers duet “Onaji Yume wo Miteru”, Maeno sung first and Oohara went afterwards.
✿ Oohara notes that in the Animage image of the young Tsurugi brothers, only Kyousuke’s face is dirty after playing soccer while Yuuichi’s face is all fine. Kyousuke probably tripped while trying to do Bakunetsu screw again~

14. Kiyama Hiroto – 98
16. Matsukaze Tenma – 67
17. Fudou Akio – 58
19. Kidou Yuuto – 52

Personal notes: 12/21 for Inazuma. Tai Yuuki’s comments about Kariya placing 2nd: “Frankly, I’m surprised. I can’t even keep up with how popular the series and the characters are. Kariya even showed only from the middle of the series yet he took 2nd place, I feel kind of sorry about that. I’m so grateful to be able to participate in a work that has so many people supporting it.”

✿ Top Females
1. Otonashi Haruna – 323
2. Seto Midori – 252
3. Sorano Aoi – 206
6. Yamana Akane – 148
8. Kino Aki – 99
12. Raimon Natsumi – 76
17. Kudou Fuyuka – 66
18. Zaizen Touko – 64

Personal notes: 8 made it to this top 20 list, pushing out all K-On characters save for one. For a series that only has like a dozen females who have had somewhat significant roles, this is awesome. AND THEY ARE ALL AWESOME

✿ Top Seiyuu
1. Miyano Mamoru (Fubuki Shirou) – 721
2. Kaji Yuuki (Minamisawa Atsushi, Fudou Akio, Ichinose Kazuya) – 716
3. Kobayashi Yuu (Kirino Ranmaru) – 531
4. Shimono Hiro (Fidio Aldena, Handa Shin’ichi) – 357
5. Kamiya Hiroshi (Baddap Sleed) – 316
6. Nishigaki Yuka (Kazemaru Ichirouta) – 311

14. Oohara Takashi (Tsurugi Kyousuke) – 121
15. Nakamura Yuuichi (Genda Koujirou, Mark Krugar, others) – 116
19. Sugita Tomokazu (Edgar Valtinas) – 99

Personal notes: 13/20 had significant roles in Inazuma. Whoa, that’s a really close second for Kajikaji. Some voices are obviously voted for other roles (ie Sugita for Gintama, and Kaji especially had other major roles throughout the year), but it is still astounding how certain ones are voted solely because of their Inazuma Eleven role. Kobayashi, Nishigaki and Oohara in particular. Also, unless I was just hearing a good soundalike, Okamoto Nobuhiko (#9) was in the trailer for the upcoming Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stone game…

✿ Top Anime songs
1. Inazuma Eleven Ed 7 – Mata ne… no Kisetsu – 841
3. Inazuma Eleven GO Op 2 – Naseba Naru no sa Nanairo Tamago – 397
4. Inazuma Eleven GO Op 1 – Ten Made Todoke! – 212
7. Inazuma Eleven GO Ed 2 – Kanari Junjou – 116
9. Inazuma Eleven Op 6 – Bokura no Goal! – 67
13. Inazuma Eleven GO the Movie Ed – Saikyou de Saikou – 55
19. Inazuma Eleven Ed 6 – Shining Power – 44

Personal notes: 4 T-Pistonz+KMC songs in there, win~
A littttle surprised about Shining Power making top 20 since I heard the single didn’t do as well as others for Berryz (feel free to show me the numbers if that’s the wrong assumption XD), and Ryuusei Boy/Maji Bomber were much more popular in other Inazuma Eleven polls. But Animage voters also tend to vote newer things in general. That also shows with the TPK songs they voted for!

Highlight: Legend of Raimon ElevenNojima Hirofumi (Gouenji Shuuya), Takagaki Ayahi (Kurama Norihito), Konno Jun (Hamano Kaiji), Yoshino Hiroyuki (Hayami Tsurumasa) interview, Movie Making File by Director Miyao Yoshikazu no summary

May get to summarizing these interviews sometime, but atm I didn’t find anything that I particularly wanted to note ^^;
The most enjoyable part for me was the Movie Making File with lots of interesting art by the director, Miyao Yoshikazu. Has spoilers for the Inazuma Eleven GO movie.

Highlight: GO CharaSong AlbumTerasaki Yuka (Matsukaze Tenma), Oohara Takashi (Tsurugi Kyousuke) interview w/ summaries

Terasaki Yuka (Matsukaze Tenma), Oohara Takashi (Tsurugi Kyousuke) interview
There’s a lot of overlap with the website Character Song Messages From the Voice Actors (GO), so here’s the newer stuff:
✿ Oohara says he thinks he listens to Tenma’s “Soyokaze Step” the most because he likes the lightheartedness of the song, and he ends up humming to end often.
✿ For the Raimon School Theme song, the official setting is that all of the first-years are there INCLUDING Tsurugi, just that he isn’t singing. There was also originally a part where Shinsuke says “Why aren’t you singing, Tsurugi?~” but it got cut out for the final version.
✿ Terasaki also particularly likes “Ashita no Field” and “Houkago Chemistry”.
✿ Oohara admits he was a little drunk when he first listened to “Ashita no Field”, but hearing Saiga’s singing sobered him up.
✿ Oohara wants to hear a song by Hamano-senpai. Terasaki suggests a fishing song by Hamano and Hayami. And a song from Amagi with plenty of “dadodado”. Also an idol song with all the managers, not just Aoi, but also with Midori, Yamana and Haruna-sensei. Oohara suggests adding Sasuke to the pack. Terasaki also wants to sing a song with Shinsuke, while Oohara wants to sing one with Nishiki-senpai (o.O).
✿ Oohara would also like to sing a song as Tsurugi to a cool melody like Resistance, one to fit his image of fighting on the field during a match. But when he says he’d like to sing it with something, Terasaki suggests Tenma joins in with occasional lines like “You can do it, Tsurugi!”, which Oohara cleanly objects with a laugh.

Animage March 2012

Animage March 2012
Highlight: Inazuma Eleven GO Character Song Album, Kariya Masaki, Ending 3 w/ summaries

Highlights:
Character songs:
✿ Tai figures that when Kariya likes something, he tends to get all into it. On the other hand, if he doesn’t like something, he’ll really dislike it. So if Kariya didn’t like singing, he wouldn’t be singing at all. Therefore, Kariya likes to sing, so he sung the Raimon School Theme Song seriously with the other characters. XD
✿ Since the rest of the first-years singing the Raimon School Theme were girls, Tai had to sing an octave higher than his usual. The “Raimon~” parts were especially tough on him (lol)
✿ Tai’s impression of an image song for Tsurugi, before he knew it was a duet between the brothers, was that it’d be a death metal song (lol). His favorite song is Tenma’s because it’s like an anime opening, and it really portrays how Tenma moves everyone’s hearts.

Kariya
To sum things up…
✿ His eyes turn slanted when he goes into serious mode~
✿ He’s also the type to bully the one he likes.
✿ Tai would apologize to Kobayashi for all the bad things Kariya did to Kirino’s character, but Kirino’s seiyuu Kobayashi Yuu would say it was fine, no problem “since Kariya’s cute” XD
✿ Tai was given 2 pieces of the lineart for his character. When he saw the first one, the round-eyed one, he went “Is it really okay for me to be playing such a cute-looking kid?” And then he saw the second one with the evil eyes, and he went “what’s going on here” (lol).

Ending 3 – HAJIKE-YO!
✿ Kamakura Yumi’s rendition of the ending dialogue:
1. *Kariya starts up a conversation with Tenma as they run*
2. Shinsuke and Kageyama butt in. Kariya: “Hey!”
3. Tsurugi comes in next. Shinsuke: “Let’s set up a Christmas party!”
4. Kageyama: “What did you ask Santa for this year?”
5. Kariya: “Geh, you still believe in Santa?”
6. Shinsuke: “Santa exists!”
7. Aoi: “He sure does!”
8. Tsurugi: “He sure does.”
9. Tenma: “He sure does!”

✿ Tai was also asked what he thought the characters were saying. His scenario goes like
Kariya: “Let’s go eat anmitsu after practice”
Hikaru: “Eh? I’d rather have a parfait.”
Tsurugi: “I’ll order a brownie sundae.”
Hikaru: “See, western style desserts, not Asian.”
Kariya: “What the heck, you guys?”
Shinsuke: “I’m with parfait!”
Aoi: “That sounds good.”
Tsurugi: “Brownie sundae.”
Tenma: “I’m good with anything.”
And so they all decide to go to a western style cafe. Tai thinks that Kariya isn’t into the latest trends, and with Tsurugi’s “death” image he’d order something dark like chocolate for dessert. Tai also notices Tsurugi carrying the cooler in the earlier part of the ending. He IS a first-year, after all (lol).

Character Song Messages From the Voice Actors (GO)

Inazuma Eleven GO Character Song Original Album Questions:
1) Please tell us your first impressions about the song you sang.
2) Please tell what points you focused on when you sang your song.
3) Please give a message to the Inazuma Eleven GO fans!

Personal notes: Kobayashi’s keigo is interesting as usual. And like her Kazemaru counterpart, she writes the most out of the whole cast lol. Yocchin writes almost nothing like usual. XD

Prince Animage Winter 2012

Prince Animage Winter 2012
Highlight: Females voicing dudes – Saiga Mitsuki (Shindou Takuto) and Kobayashi Yuu (Kirino Ranmaru) interview, Nishigaki Yuka (Kazemaru Ichirouta) and Tano Megumi (Kabeyama Heigorou) interview, Sanpei Yuuko (Aphrodi) interview w/ summaries

Saiga Mitsuki (Shindou Takuto) and Kobayashi Yuu (Kirino Ranmaru) interview
Again, rather than an interview, it’s more like commentary from the seiyuu on various characters.

Highlights:

Matsukaze Tenma
✿ The one who started it all. The rest is pretty self-evident xD

Nishizono Shinsuke
✿ He and Tenma really brighten up the team’s atmosphere

Hamano Kaiji
✿ Another happy-bringer to the team. In charge of smiles.

Tsurugi Kyousuke
✿ Kobayashi voiced young Kyousuke.
✿ Saiga notes how little Tsurugi talks recently, so little that sometimes she goes “oh, he was there!” But she also relates Tsurugi to Kirino in that they both watch over the team.

Kurama Norihito
✿ Saiga thinks of Kurama and Shindou being similar. They’re both serious types with the tendency to get deep into their own thoughts. They’re conscious of their actions normally, but they’re also the type to hold off until something explodes within them in the end. As an example, when Kurama accuses Tenma of being the one taking soccer from them instead of Fifth Sector, he was able to say things straight out of his mind that other people were possibly thinking in at least a small part of their mind. Saiga also notes that Minamisawa’s leave probably also sent Kurama over the edge since Kurama looked up to Minamisawa. (TwT~~~)
✿ The two also talk about how strict Kurama is with himself, how he doesn’t naturally smile much. They don’t remember him ever breaking out in laughter. In the end song “Kanari Junjou” he looked nice, although he was apparently just talking to his mom (see Animage November 2011 issue).
✿ He seems to be the type to frustrate about things silently instead of complaining.

Kurumada Gouichi
✿ His Dash Train “Shupoo!” sound effect was ad-libbed right from the get go. The recording studio fills with smiles when it comes up~
✿ The “shupoo!” in ep 18 was also ad-libbed. When they got the script and were told to ad-lib the scene, they saw Shindou was just smiling really brightly and went something like “What would make Shindou smile that much?” “Shupoo-, wouldn’t it?”, and so it was.

Hayami Tsurumasa
✿ The negative character who doesn’t get carried away by the mood easily. In that sense, he’s a bit of a relief. They’ve noticed that he’s stopped being so negative after the Kaiou match.

Amagi Daichi
✿ Very straightforward person who says what he thinks. Straightforward in a different way from Kurama. Kobayashi likes Amagi’s type. XD

Sangoku Taichi
✿ Feeling sorry for Burning Catch with an 80% failure rate.
✿ Kobayashi apologizing for her cruel line: “Sangoku-san can’t block that as he is right now!”
✿ Defending his importance in the team. He makes pudding! He’s a kind man!

Ichino Nanasuke and Aoyama Shunsuke
✿ Welcoming the two back into the team… and bench. Hoping they get more action!

Kageyama Hikaru
✿ Saiga: Definite genius type. Looking forward to seeing what he does in the future!

Nishiki Ryouma
✿ Saiga: He appears to be the genius type on the outside, but actually he’s a very hard worker behind the scenes.

Kariya Masaki
✿ Kariya is a bit of a bullying type, but that’s because of the environment he grew up in. Yet none of the other teammates know about that (lol). But everyone on the team knows through his plays that his love for soccer is real.

Minamisawa Atsushi
✿ Saiga notes that a part of her wants Minamisawa to come back, but realizing that he’s already a third year… not likely to happen? XD

Nishigaki Yuka (Kazemaru Ichirouta) and Tano Megumi (Kabeyama Heigorou) interview
Reflections on the OB Inazuma characters

Endou Mamoru
Tano: Captain seems to have calmed down quite a bit.
Nishigaki: Yeah, he grew up…
Tano: I miss the times when he went around doing silly things.
Nishigaki: With his slightly tanned appearance, he looks even manlier now.
Tano: And he’s really settled down in life…
Nishigaki: Well, after all, Endou’s now… eheheh.
*The atmosphere got heavy here so they cut the subject off.

Kidou Yuuto
✿ Didn’t graduate from his dreads. But he did graduate from the goggles to just regular glasses. They think either because the goggles made his eyes go bad or they just weren’t fitting anymore. XD
✿ He also graduated from the cape, or so they think. Could be he still wears them in his Italy matches, and that they sell goods with “KIDOMAN” written on them.

Kazemaru Ichirouta and Kabeyama Heigorou
✿ Both seiyuu were told not to change their voices too much for their older counterparts.
✿ For the record, Edgar looks like Kazemaru, not the other way around! (lol)

Fubuki Shirou
✿ His hair got more energetic (lol). And what’s his occupation, really?

Someoka Ryuugo
✿ A definite image change. White suit, white hat, extended hair a bit. Flashier. Nishigaki wonders if it’s a result of going to Italy, like Mister K.

Kogure Yuuya
✿ This surprised Nishigaki since even though the rest of his body grew up, his face still looks the same as ever (lol).
✿ Also surprised Tano, and even more when the voice was the same as ever too (lol).

Fudou Akio
✿ Nishigaki wonders what got Fudou to stop going with the mohawk. She wonders if Fudou decided to shave it all off at first to grow out the hair. “I want to see him as a skinhead!”
✿ Tano wonders too~ “Maybe he got interested in girls?”
✿ Nishigaki: “I want to be popular too!” (lol)

Megane Kakeru
✿ Tano wonders if Megane is a pro soccer player… (lol)
✿ Nishigaki thinks he’d be perfect as a stock trader.

Sakuma Jirou
✿ Beautiful as always. But after seeing the Happy Feet 2 Collab CM, Tano went “he’s so tiny!” (lol).
✿ Tano thought he would’ve cut his hair when he got old, but it got longer instead. And his cowlick has been fixed a bit too.
✿ Tano’s impression is that Sakuma isn’t too interested in girls after what he said to Akane (“no photography”) (lol). Or that girls just make him nervous but he wouldn’t show that past his cool expression.

Ishido Shuuji
✿ Lot of “maybe he’s” talk, but really not much substance. XD;

Sanpei Yuuko (Aphrodi) interview
✿ Jokes about how everyone still calls him Aphrodi instead of his actual name Afuro. Then again, it would be weird to say Afuro, since it’s pretty much “afro”.
✿ tsukkomi about Aphrodi calling Someoka without any honorifics. Speculations that since they both play internationally, they have run-ins with each other so they know each other on a more familiar basis.
✿ Interviewer notes that Aphrodi has yet not been part of the winning team in all of his four match appearances. Only from what you see in the anime!
✿ The eyecatch with Aphrodi saying the “12.23 Inazuma Eleven GO” phrase only aired on networks like BS Japan (not on TV Tokyo, the home station for Inazuma) and will also be on the DVD.
